Pub Crawler Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 18, 2026
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Pub Crawler is made by PUB CRAWLER LLC ("Pub Crawler," "we," "us"), El Paso, Texas. This policy explains what we collect when you use the Pub Crawler app and website (getpubcrawler.com), why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, not skimmed past — if anything here is unclear, email support@getpubcrawler.com.
1. Who can use Pub Crawler
Pub Crawler is for adults 21 and older in the United States. You confirm your age when you sign up. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21, and we delete any account we learn belongs to someone under 21.
2. What we collect
Things you give us
- Account details: email address, password (stored hashed — we never see it), first and last name, phone number (for verification codes), and the location you enter when signing up.
- Profile choices: avatar, background and frame, social handles you choose to add (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, X, Threads, Reddit), team membership and team crests.
- Home location: either your GPS location when you tap "Use my location," or the city you pick. Used for your Local Rank, "nearby" events, distances to crawls, and the pickup point for ride links.
- Content you post: ratings, comments and photos on bars, crawls and events you create, and reports you file.
- Support messages you send us, and anything in them.
Things the app records as you use it
- Crawl activity: which crawls you start, the bars you check in at, bars you skip, when you finish, and the points you earn. This is the game.
- Check-in location: when you tap "I'm Here" or scan a bar's QR code, the app reads your phone's location once, at that moment, to confirm you're at the bar. We keep that check-in point with the check-in.
- QR check-ins: when you scan a bar's Pub Crawler QR code, we record which bar, when, which crawl you were on (if any), and your location at that moment. One check-in per person, per bar, per night.
- Social activity: friend requests, invites, join requests, blocks and reports.
- Purchases: which tiers you unlock and when. Payment itself is handled by Google Play, the Apple App Store or Stripe; we never see your card number.
- Device and usage data: device type, operating system version, app version, crash reports and basic usage events (screens opened, buttons tapped) so we can fix bugs and see what's used.
Things we don't collect
We don't track your location in the background, don't read your contacts, and don't use your camera or photos except to scan a code or for a photo you choose to post.
3. How we use it
- To run the app: accounts, crawls, points, ranks, teams, friends, events.
- To show you what's nearby and to build ride links to the first bar, the next bar, or home.
- To confirm check-ins really happened at the bar, so points and leaderboards are fair.
- To review photos and comments before they're shown to everyone, and to act on reports.
- To send you verification codes and, if you opt in, notifications about crawl invites and join requests, friend requests and team join requests.
- To answer your support messages.
- To give bars that subscribe totals about check-ins at their bar (see section 5A).
- To keep the service safe — detecting abuse, enforcing our Terms, and complying with the law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.
4. What other people can see
Pub Crawler is a social app. Other users can see your name, avatar, crawl points, ranks, teams, and the crawls and events you've created, plus any ratings, comments and photos you post. Your friends can also see the crawl you're on right now, your progress on it, the crawl you've pinned as your next one, and — only if you agree to share it for that crawl — your live location during that crawl. People who aren't your friends see none of that. Your email, phone number and exact home location are never shown to other users.
5. Who we share it with
- Service providers that run the app for us: hosting, database and file storage (Google Firebase / Google Cloud), SMS verification (Firebase Authentication), address lookup (Google Places), automatic photo checking (Google Cloud Vision), email delivery and phone notifications (Google), payments for bar subscriptions (Stripe), and analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase). All hosted in the United States. They may only use your data to provide the service to us.
- Uber and Lyft, only when you tap a ride button: the app opens their app with a pickup and drop-off location. What happens after that is governed by their privacy policies.
- Google Play / Apple: for purchases and app distribution, under their policies.
- Bars — see 5A. A bar never receives your name, account, or anything that identifies you.
- Law enforcement or others when required by law, or to protect the safety of users or the public.
- A buyer if Pub Crawler is ever sold or merged; this policy would carry over.
5A. Bars, QR check-ins and statements
Bars can claim their listing and, if they subscribe to a pack, see a monthly statement built from QR check-ins at their bar.
- Totals only. A statement shows counts: how many check-ins, how many were first visits, how many came on a crawl, which nights and days were busiest. It never shows who checked in — no names, accounts, photos, or individual times.
- Small numbers are held back. A month with fewer than 5 check-ins shows only its total, and no single night with fewer than 3 check-ins is listed, so a quiet night in a small bar can't point at a person.
- Honest wording. A check-in shows someone was at the bar with the app open; statements say "crawlers who checked in," not "customers we sent you."
- Individual check-ins stay private. Only you (and Pub Crawler staff for support and safety) can see your own check-ins. Bar owners cannot read them.
- Sponsored crawls. Bars that subscribe get crawls built around their bar. These are labeled "Sponsored" in the app. A sponsored crawl works like any other crawl, except that checking in at the sponsoring bar earns double points; taking it shares nothing extra about you with the bar.
5B. Bar owner accounts
If you run a bar and use the owner portal at getpubcrawler.com/owners, we collect your email and password (hashed), the bars you've claimed, the photos and description you upload, and your choices for your pack. Subscription payments are handled by Stripe; we store your Stripe customer and subscription IDs and your billing status, and never see your card number. Photos you upload are checked automatically and may be reviewed by us before they appear.
6. How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. QR check-ins are kept while your account exists so a bar's past statements stay accurate; deleting your account deletes your check-ins, and a bar's past totals are not re-issued. Past statements keep their counts — they contain no personal data. Reports and moderation records may be kept for up to 12 months after resolution for safety reasons. Crash and analytics logs are kept for 90 days. Backups roll over within 30 days.
7. Your choices and rights
- See and edit your information in Account Details.
- Delete your account in the app: Profile → Help & Support → Common questions → "How do I delete my account?" → Delete my account now. This removes your profile, points, crawls you created, check-ins (including QR check-ins), ratings, photos, comments and your phone-notification registration. You can also request deletion at getpubcrawler.com/delete-account or by emailing support@getpubcrawler.com from your account email.
- Location: turn off location for the app in your phone's settings; you can still pick a city by hand. Check-ins without a location earn no points.
- Live location sharing is off unless you turn it on for a specific crawl, and you can stop it at any time.
- Phone notifications: off unless you turn them on (Profile → Phone notifications). You can switch each kind off there, or turn them off completely in your phone's settings.
- Block and report anyone from their profile or any post, and report a team or crawl.
If you live in California, Texas or another state with a privacy law, you also have the right to know what we hold about you, to correct it, and to have it deleted — email us and we'll handle it within the time the law allows. We won't treat you differently for exercising these rights.
8. Security
Passwords are hashed, traffic is encrypted, and access to production data is limited to the people who run the service. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you we'll tell you as the law requires.
9. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll show a notice in the app and update the date at the top.
